San Pedro Crested Cactus (Echinopsis Pachanoi Cristata)

We are happy to be able to offer the San Pedro Crested Cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi cristata), a really intriguing and cool variety of the San Pedro cactus. The Crested San Pedro is distinguished by the presence of numerous “growth points” throughout its body, as opposed to the original San Pedro, which grows from a single point into the distinctive “organ pipe” shape.

With each of these growth points growing at various rates at times, the Crested San Pedro forms an absolutely stunning cactus specimen that can grow into the trendiest shapes depending on the cutting.

The Crested San Pedro cuttings we provide are 10-11cm in size and may be potted in the same way as its phallic-shaped nephew.

Watching the cuttings grow and then seeing what shapes they will become makes cactus growth much more entertaining and fun with the San Pedro Crested Cactus, which is available exclusively from the Midwest Mushroom Grow Kit web shop!

San Pedro Crested Cactus Cultivation

The San Pedro Crested Cactus, like the regular Echinopsis pachanoi, is relatively easy to cultivate and can even endure a colder environment as long as temperatures do not go below 12°C. Simply use a fertile and well-draining potting mix. When watering the San Pedro, begin by thoroughly wetting the cactus and then allow it to dry between waterings.

San Pedro can withstand a little more water than other cacti and isn’t as finicky as some other cacti varieties. Some growers relate growing the San Pedro to growing other “normal plants” because it isn’t that much different or more challenging.

The San Pedro cactus enjoys some sun, just like us, but not too much of it, especially during the hot summer months. It’s best to maintain the cactus in some light shade to avoid getting sunburned. It is recommended that you assist the cactus to undergo dormancy in the winter by withholding water and nutrients.

The San Pedro, like other cactus, is prone to mould and fungus, although it fared better here than others. Nonetheless, you should monitor your watering frequency and moisture levels to keep mould and fungus growth at bay.
