The Jack Frost mushroom kit from Philosophr® is the new standard of premium mushrooms!
You might be unfamiliar with the Jack Frost 2000cc premium magic mushroom kit’s method of growth. Without a grow box, it grows directly in a grow bag, making it much more resistant to contamination.
You will only need to open the bag once to reap the benefits of the first significant flush. We specifically designed the Jack Frost to grow extremely potent and massive mushrooms. Welcome to the new era of home cultivation.
- Larger yields and more mushrooms
- Easier to handle and very contaminant-proof.
- There are easier instructions and fewer worries about your mushrooms.
Contents
- 1x Grow Bag: This contains substrate with active mycelium (the cake). The bag has micron filters to keep contaminants out and let fresh air in.
- 1x Large Bag Clip: Easy to use and a more secure way of closing your grow bag.
- Place one rubber band around the substrate at the top to prevent side growth.
How should I correctly store the Jack Frost grow kit?
As soon as you receive the grow box, you should begin the cultivation process. If you decide to start growing later, which may affect the quality of the box, you should store the grow kit for a maximum of 2 weeks in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C).
Keep the growbag with mycelium in the box and refrigerate. Make sure your fridge is clean and free of mold. You can place it inside a clean plastic bag or a soaking bag as an extra precaution.
Jack Frost’s grow kit instructions
What do you need?
- Maintain a clean environment to prevent other fungi and bacteria (microorganisms) from contaminating your growkit.
- Potable water: Always use clean tap or mineral water for misting and soaking. Never use distilled or demi water.
Recommended products to use in addition
- A hygrometer and thermometer with an external sensor
- The thermomat is used when the room temperature falls below 21°C.
Room Preparation
- Close all doors and windows and let the air settle in the room so no drafts can blow unwanted contaminants into your grow bag.
- Remove the grow bag from the box and only place it on freshly disinfected surfaces.
- Make sure you work with clean hands and arms. We suggest using and/or asuitabled disinfectant to clean your hands and arms when handling the kit. Use a to avoid breathing into the grow bag and on the cake.
Starting the process.
- Take the bag out of the box and unroll it.
- Open the bag and let fresh air flow inside by pulling the sides away from each other; immediately close the bag with the clip again.
- Place the rubber band around the bag at the same level as the top of the substrate to reduce side pinning.
- Place the kit in a clean and comfortable environment for the mushrooms. The temperature is ideally 23 degrees; do not put them in the dark, and never in direct sunlight.
- Now all you need is patience. Jack Frost takes about 2 to 4 weeks until it is ready for harvest. No airing is needed.
Conditions
Temperature
The ideal temperature is 23 °C. Make sure the temperature stays above 21°C and does not surpass 27°C.
To prevent temperatures from dropping below 21 °C, you can use a thermal heating mat. Especially in colder regions or during winter, a thermal mat becomes essential for maintaining the ideal temperature.
To prevent the temperature from directly concentrating on the substrate, always place “spacers,” such as pencils, between the bag and the heat mat.
Light
Jack Frost only needs indirect sunlight to understand that there is a day and night cycle. Light is important for a good yield, but it’s also important to ensure that the growkit is never exposed to direct sunlight.
Water / Misting
The Jack Frost growkit has enough water inside the cake to last you at least 2 flushes. Therefore, it requires no extra water or maintenance. Just set it up and wait.
Flushes
Jack Frost mushrooms have a slower growth rate than other Cubensis strains but grow incredible amounts.
Some patience is required as the first mushrooms typically show up somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks. Once the pins emerge, the mushrooms are ready for harvest approximately one week later.
Harvest your Jack Frost mushrooms!
Harvest Jack Frost, like all Cubensis mushrooms, as soon as the veils around the caps begin to break. Once the veil breaks, Jack Frost will continue to grow significantly in size, primarily due to an increase in water weight.
If you pick them when they are completely open, it will be more difficult to remove them, potentially causing damage to the cake. Additionally, harvesting them later may result in hollowed-out mushrooms after drying.
Picking them at the optimal time preserves their potency. The best way is to harvest mature mushrooms while allowing others to continue maturing. In practical terms, many mushrooms will be ready at approximately the same time as others.
To harvest the mushrooms, simply roll down the bag to the substrate so you can easily pick the ones that are ready.
After harvesting all the mushrooms, close the bag, put the kit back on the growpot, and wait for the next round of pins.
Soaking the growkit.
After the second flush, Jack Frost only requires soaking; until then, there is enough water inside the kit for them to grow.
One exception to this rule occurs when pieces of the substrate crumble off during mushroom harvesting. If that happens, it is also time to soak the kit.
Fill the bag with clean tap or spring water to submerge the substrate, then soak the kit overnight. The next day, you can drain the water out and let the kit grow again.
After soaking, there might be some discoloration on the substrate, but if the kit still smells good, it’s good to go.
The end
When no more mushrooms have grown after 4 weeks, that means that the cake is exhausted, and it is the end of the kit. Additionally, you should discard the kit if you notice a green discoloration, indicating contamination.
If you are uncertain about the appearance of any discolorations, please send a picture to our customer service team.
