Blue Oyster: One of the oysters that fruits rapidly is the blue oyster. Even at 55 degrees, they will bear fruit since they can withstand the cold!

High-end recipes usually call for this kind of oyster. Compared to some of the other oysters, the mushrooms are thinner and more delicate, but their flavor is more complex, which makes them a favorite oyster.
Black Pearl King Oyster: This unusual type is a cross between the Japanese brown oyster and the European trumpet oyster. The outcome was the most “Umami”-flavored oyster mushroom. It’s a common rumor that this oyster has some of the best flavor. These require a cooler temperature range and are slower to fruit, but they will yield huge, dense mushroom caps.

Pink Oyster: These are among the most enjoyable mushrooms to cultivate. The vivid pink mushrooms can liven up any kitchen and resemble flowers!

The vivid pink color of this oyster, which thrives in the tropics, is evident even on the mycelium. Pink oysters prefer temperatures between 70 and 82 degrees, and they appreciate warmer weather.

At our farmers market, the pink oyster is always a top seller and has a very distinct “ham”-like flavor. These mushrooms go really well with any pork dish and taste great on pizza.

Yellow/Golden Oyster: Another lovely and entertaining flower-like fungus to cultivate is the yellow oyster. Their thin, fragile caps are accompanied by enormous clusters of growth.

They are very simple to grow and may flourish in almost any kind of environment or climate. Some people describe their nutty flavor as tasting like cashews or almonds. They work wonderfully in almost any dish. This is a fantastic option for any novice gardener.

White Pearl Oyster: This is another fast-growing, easy-to-grow oyster that matures to a dazzling white to light gray color. They yield mushrooms that are about medium in size and neither too thick nor too thin.

If you’re looking for an oyster mushroom that you can use in any kind of recipe, this is a perfect option. Although they may grow in a temperature range of 64 to 76 degrees, they prefer a cooler environment.

Phoenix Oyster: Though it forms shorter, larger clusters, this oyster closely resembles the white oyster. The phoenix oyster is a summertime specialty that thrives in warmer climates.

This is an excellent oyster to grow alongside medicinal mushrooms, which need temperatures between 73 and 78 degrees for fruiting. This mushroom is delicious, very easy to cultivate, and has a subtle, velvety, sweet flavor akin to anise.

Antler Reishi: You’ve undoubtedly heard by now of the incredible medicinal mushroom’s verified health advantages. If not, click the “Additional Information tab” to read more about them. We love the Antler variety very much. Growing is quite enjoyable!

All you have to do is plant it where it receives enough indirect light, then watch it grow. Every block will perform a distinct function. It will grow little antler pods with 20–30 separate branches pointing in all directions at times, or it will grow a few long, thin antlers that can grow up to 24″ in length.

It takes around 2-4 months for all reishi to attain maturity. Stem tea is a fantastic way to appreciate this mushroom.

When it’s time to harvest, cut it extremely thinly and boil it for half an hour to extract all the health benefits. When prepared in this way, it tastes fantastic and is well-liked as an addition to regular tea.

Lion’s Mane: This unusual mushroom is one of our best-selling types and has become incredibly popular in the last few years. Recent studies have demonstrated the benefits of brain-boosting substances and their potential to treat significant illnesses such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and more.

Cooked, this mushroom tastes even better. Cooking mushrooms increases or magnifies their health advantages, unlike many other vegetables. Most people say that the flavor and texture of lion’s mane are similar to those of lobster or scallops.

Growing lion’s mane is a relatively simple process that yields numerous batches of mushrooms in 4-6 weeks. Their appearance varies with the amount of light or oxygen they are exposed to.

It will appear coral-like, but more light will give it a pink tint, and more oxygen will cause it to enlarge. It’s entirely up to personal preference how it develops, but either way, it’s an exciting new type to grow!

Another name for Pioppino is Black Poplar. This mushroom is readily confused for magic mushrooms or Psilocybe cubensis since it resembles a regular brown mushroom.

This mushroom bears fruit quite quickly and can grow in almost any type of soil. This is a flavorful, nutty mushroom that goes well with any Italian cuisine.

This mushroom can grow to a variety of strange proportions. We’ve seen enormous balls and some really meaty, thick 8–9″ monsters! Growing this mushroom is really fun!

Shiitake: All people are familiar with shiitake mushrooms. Most likely the most popular mushroom grown domestically. Our shiitake strain is highly prolific, often yielding a substantial crop over multiple flushes.

We send these during the curing stage, when the mycelium’s exterior layer turns brown and develops into a tough skin like leather.

Mushrooms of superior quality are produced when light is introduced later in their growth. Experts grow the large mushrooms in this manner. Shiitake mushrooms can be produced for months and are really simple to grow!

Maitake (Hen of the Woods): This is among the forest mushrooms with the greatest flavor. It’s one of the most sought-after mushrooms to forage in the fall because of its rich, nutty flavor and incredible therapeutic qualities.

Indoor maitake cultivation has never been easy. After years of trial and error with the fruiting process and the best hardwood substrate mix, we have finally cloned a strain that will produce inside.

Maitake has a lot of triterpenes, polysaccharides, and other bioactive substances that are known to be good for your health in many ways. Studies reveal that its beta-glucan content possesses both antiviral and immune-supporting qualities.

The bioactive polysaccharides in the mushroom aid in the body’s defense against infections. This is especially helpful if you have a compromised immune system due to stress or if there is a cold circulating in the office.

Additionally, maitake has been demonstrated to help lower insulin, maintain appropriate blood sugar levels, and promote weight loss by controlling cortisol levels, which are a major factor in stress-related weight gain.

Health Benefits of Mushrooms

Lion’s Mane

As they get bigger, these white, shaggy mushrooms take on the appearance of a lion’s mane. You can consume lion’s mane mushrooms raw, roasted, dried, or steeped as a tea.

Often, over-the-counter health supplements contain their own extracts. Many people compare their flavor to that of crab or lobster, describing it as “seafood-like.”

Bioactive compounds found in lion’s mane mushrooms are useful to the body, particularly the heart, brain, and intestines. Numerous health benefits, including protection against disease, have been demonstrated by recent studies.

  • Dementia
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Relieve depression and anxiety
  • Protect against ulcers
  • Reduce heart attack risk
  • Help manage diabetes symptoms
  • It fights many types of cancer and reduces inflammation in the body.

Oyster Mushrooms

As a tropical type of mushroom, pink oysters thrive in warm, humid climates. The Asian strain known as Yellow has a high beta-carotine content. North American woodlands are home to several blue oyster populations.

Numerous compounds that are known to affect health can be found in oyster mushrooms. Among these are dietary fiber, beta-glucan, and a number of other polysaccharides, a class of carbohydrates that have been shown to have an impact on immunological function.

Research on oyster mushrooms’ potential health benefits is starting to surface. Research has looked into this fungus’s possible advantages.

  • A 2019 study found evidence that the dietary fiber component of oyster mushrooms may be useful in reducing triglyceride accumulation in the liver.
  • Promotes Heart Health: According to research, whole foods high in fiber, like mushrooms, have a number of health benefits while containing few calories, making them an excellent choice for a healthy eating pattern. Increased fiber consumption has been linked in several studies to improved heart health.
  • Supports better immune function. A tiny 2016 study found that oyster mushrooms may improve immunological function. Six participants in the study consumed an oyster mushroom extract for eight weeks. Upon completion of the study, the researchers discovered evidence that the extract might have immune-boosting properties.
  • May reduce the risk of cancer. According to some early studies, oyster mushrooms may be able to prevent cancer.7. According to a 2018 study, an extract from oyster mushrooms may stop colon and breast cancer cells from growing and spreading. Scientists are still conducting research and believe that additional studies are necessary to completely comprehend the relationship.
  • Improves metabolic health. Health specialists frequently advise eating a diet high in fiber-rich vegetables in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. However, mushrooms might provide an extra advantage to support improved metabolic health. A study that was published looked at the impact of edible mushrooms on obesity. Investigators determined that “regular consumption of mushrooms is effective in the treatment of metabolic syndrome, including obesity.” However, they cautioned that the technique must be paired with consistent physical activity, dietary changes, and lifestyle adjustments.

Reishi Mushrooms

Ganoderma lucidum, also known as lingzhi or reishi mushroom, is a species of fungus that grows well in hot, humid areas across Asia.

Eastern medicine has historically made substantial use of this fungus. Triterpenoids, polysaccharides, and peptidoglycans are just a few of the substances found in mushrooms that may be good for you.

While the mushrooms themselves are edible raw, they are often utilized in powdered form or in extracts that contain these specific components.

Numerous sorts, including those involving cells, animals, and humans, have been studied.

  • Boost the immune system: Your immune system can be strengthened by reishi mushrooms, which is one of their most significant benefits (4 trusted sources). Test-tube studies have demonstrated that reishi can alter the genes in white blood cells, which are essential components of your immune system, though certain details are still unclear. Furthermore, these investigations have shown that some reishi varieties may change the pathways involved in inflammation in white blood cells (5 trusted sources).
  • Fights cancer: Studies conducted on cancer patients have demonstrated that some compounds present in the mushroom have the ability to stimulate the activity of natural killer cells, a subset of white blood cells. Natural killer cells defend the body against cancer and diseases. Reishi has been shown in another study to boost the quantity of lymphocytes, or other white blood cells, in patients with colorectal cancer (2 trusted sources).
  • Fights depression and fatigue: Although the benefits of reishi on the immune system are frequently highlighted, there may be additional benefits as well. These include an increase in life quality and a decrease in despair and exhaustion. In one study, 132 patients with neurasthenia—a vague illness characterized by aches, pains, headaches, dizziness, and irritability—were studied to see how it affected them. The eight weeks of supplementation resulted in less weariness and increased well-being, according to the study. In another study, 48 breast cancer survivors who took reishi powder for four weeks reported feeling less tired and having a higher quality of life (25 trusted sources). Additionally, there was a decrease in anxiety and despair among the study participants.
  • Blood sugar control: According to a number of studies, chemicals in reishi mushrooms can lower animal blood sugar. Similar results were found in some early human investigations. Most studies, though, have not found evidence for this advantage. Researchers evaluated hundreds of people and found no evidence of any advantages to blood sugar fasting. Blood sugar levels following meals showed inconsistent outcomes. Reishi mushrooms may have reduced blood sugar in certain circumstances. Studies are still being conducted.
